Barony setup guide

Generate a balanced Barony board: random terrain hexes, fair starting positions and a first-player pick. Free and instant.

How to use the Barony tool

  1. Set the player count and generate a terrain layout.
  2. Build the board with the terrain hexes in the displayed arrangement.
  3. Review the suggested starts before placing the initial pieces and choosing a first player.

Terrain and starting positions affect access to resources and expansion. Compare the layout with your group before play.

What this setup tool prepares

A Barony terrain layout changes the surroundings available to the initial settlements and the directions players can expand. This helper brings the map and suggested starting positions into one preview. Use it as a shared preparation step: everyone can inspect the terrain before the first pieces go down, rather than evaluating a partially assembled board.

Before you start playing

Check the player count, terrain arrangement, and initial positions together. Look at nearby resource access and routes into the rest of the map, not just the hex directly under a start. Place the physical tiles in the same orientation as the preview and agree on the suggested starts before completing setup.

Free to use, with no account required. Use your physical game components and the rulebook for the complete rules.
