Board faces and orientation change the region map, so the displayed layout is a concrete building reference rather than just a list of boards. The helper also groups the starting region and preparation information that depend on the chosen player count.
Select the player count before generating. Match the face and orientation of each board, then find the indicated starting region. Prepare armies, coins, and any neutral armies as shown, and finish the rest of the setup normally. Checking board faces early avoids discovering a different region layout after pieces have been placed.
